FEBRUARY AU WORKSHOP

FEBRUARY AU WORKSHOP

Welcome to the AU Workshop! We understand adapting a character for an AU game can be a difficult process, even if you have all the creativity in the world, so we've put this together to help! Just fill out the form and post it in a comment below, and sort of brain out which ideas stick!

Keep in mind this is not a reserve. Reserves will open on the 3rd, as always, and you don't need to use this if you're already sure of your ideas! This is just a fun creative exercise that we hope you enjoy and find helpful!

Be sure to check out our Premise, FAQ, Locations, and NPC posts for worldbuilding info to help you get started!

Here's the form!

PLAYER: Nix
CHARACTER: Rin Tohsaka
CANON: Fate/EXTRA

AU NAME: N/A
AU AGE: 21

BLURB:
Rin is a lot of things: Meta-human, anarchist, mercenary, and cyberterrorist. She got an early start in a Middle Eastern megapolis, where she was involved in a resistance against an arm of the Douman Zaibatsu as it attempted to consolidate power there. Long story short, her side lost, and she's the only survivor of her particular rebel cell.

Of course, Rin knew she had to get out at that point — so of course she decided to jump from the frying pan into the fire, making her way to New Gate City. Intent on taking her fight to the head of the Douman Zaibatsu directly, she hires herself out to other corporate interests who are eager to see Richard Magnus toppled from his throne, offering her services in the form of hacking and other cyber attacks. She loves luxury, so her rates are pretty steep, but she nonetheless spends most of her time lying low in Last Ward.

Her Meta-human abilities involve crystal manipulation (including crystals found in circuitry!). She might also have some dirt on the Douman Zaibatsu's weaponized Meta-human experiments idk, depends on if that's allowed.

LOOKING FOR:
  • Employers?! Any wealthy people out here looking to be a thorn in the Douman Zaibatsu's side?!
  • Similarly, maybe other "for-hire" types she has worked with since coming to New Gate City, or is even in a current working relationship with? Rin is pretty independently-minded, but I wouldn't mind her being part of a mercenary group in New Gate City.
  • She'll also take one-off jobs that aren't related to her quest for revenge against the Zaibatsu, if you want some small time hacking or security taken care of.
  • Other Last Ward folks. Rin is pretty hard to get along with, and spends a lot of time being like "I can't have any friends!! Emotional attachment is a weakness!!" but that's exactly why she can't be allowed to get away with avoiding people.
  • I know I said Rin is the last of her rebel cell, but if someone wanted to actually play as one of its other members, I would be happy to revise that.

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: I would die for literally any of the NPC Masters, please I beg of you

Also, a SN!Rin with no actual family relationship to her would be hilarious.

PLAYER: Dragon
CHARACTER: Akira Howard
CANON: Astral Chain

AU NAME: Akira (last name up for debate!)
AU AGE: 19*

BLURB: CLONING

Officially, Officer Akira Howard was killed in response to a meta-rights terrorist attack by an extremist group -- a shame, really, as she'd only been on the force for a couple of weeks. In reality, though, she spontaneously returned to life in the hospital morgue, and was promptly abducted into the biological division of a corporation who had been fronting the hospital for various experimental opportunities. Akira, it turns out, had a meta talent of her own -- one that the corporation promptly and grossly misunderstood, believing it to be an energy power that they could use to amplify and augment technological advances that required a power source otherwise impossible to obtain at the size/output requirements thy desired.

Ethics not exactly being a consideration for these folks, they kept Akira in an induced coma and vat-grew a bunch of extras. These extras accomplished exactly what the corporation hoped, being able to power and utilize various experimental devices, although in ways that never seemed entirely consistent with expected results. Still, the data was valuable and the Revolutionary Augmented Versatile Engagement Nexus (i.e. the paramilitary unit of Akira clones) looked to be a profitable and powerful force on paper.

Before it could ever deploy properly, though, Akira Howard woke up. Seven minutes later, the entire corporate research facility was irrecoverably aflame, and the RAVENs with it -- save for one Akira, who punched her way out of her cloning vat and escaped.

She knows her name is Akira. She possess a device called the Augmented Strategic/Tactical Response Agent Launch Control Hub (Akira-Indigo-Nine). And her soul powers it. That is the true nature of Akira Howard's power: projection of her soul into an external form.

LOOKING FOR: Was someone responsible for Akira Howard waking up? Or helped with the subsequent lab destruction? Did someone know about this program? Does someone have connections or history with it? Is someone secretly trying to reclaim her? Who had to deal with this "amnesiac" and dangerous girl after her escape? Did you fight her? Did you help her? Did anyone adopt her? Did anyone know the original Akira Howard, and now sees "her" alive and untouched by the intervening time?

PLAYER: Dragon
CHARACTER: Mewtwo
CANON: Pokemon

AU NAME: Meta-Enhanced Weapon 2. (Yes, I think I'm clever.)
AU AGE: 1~ish

BLURB: CLONING

Deep inside a corporation that experimented heavily with cloning and biological weapons (ahemAkira'sbackstorycough), the Meta-Enhanced Weapon program sought to produce a creature with a physiology specifically adapted to amplify a meta power genetically grafted into it. After numerous disasters, and a couple of organisms that had utility but very little weaponized power (such as the shapeshifting Dynamic Impersonation Total Transformation Organism), the project produced the Meta-Enhanced Weapon. It had... terrific power, incredible versatility, and absolutely no killing instinct. This kind of sucked.

Rather that create a new genetic sequence from scratch, they sampled MEW's and improved it, creating Meta-Enhanced Weapon 2. It proved intensely powerful, and some casualties resulted from its activation, but it was quickly restrained with power limiters and control mechanisms. Its creators badly underestimated its intelligence and willpower, however, and only managed to suppress its anger and desire for freedom and vengeance, not quell them.

An explosion in an adjacent biological testing facility offered just the chance it needed; a brief power flicker allowed it to tear its limiters off, smash up the place with its psionics, and get the hell out of here. Now, MEW2 (okay, you can call him Mewtwo) is looking for any opportunity to cause harm to humankind, the progenitor species for whom he feels only bitter anger.

LOOKING FOR: SEND ENEMIES. That's almost entirely what Mewtwo had attracted or wanted to attract. Of course, if someone had a run-in with him enough to get a speech about purging humans because of their treatment, that someone might also have a glimpse of the massive inferiority complex that underlies his genocidal anger, and might want to do something about it rather than just fight him...

Tracer take 2

[personal profile] constructadditionalheroes 2020-01-27 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
PLAYER: Eric
CHARACTER: Lena "Tracer" Oxton
CANON: Overwatch

AU NAME: Lena Oxton
AU AGE: 26

BLURB: I tried Atomic Robo last month and felt like he really bounced off of the game, so I'm dropping him and trying someone else. Also I did a plotting thing for Tracer last month but I'm gonna try again with a slightly different AU. Thank you for being patient with my indecisiveness.

/clears throat

Lena Oxton was a British air force pilot. She was the test pilot for an experimental new fighter that horribly malfunctioned on her first flight. There was NO way a normal human could have survived the crash, but her latent metahuman genes activated, disrupting her connection to time and space. Tracer spent the next few months as a living ghost, flicking in and out of reality at random until someone from the Neo Sapien Organization invented a device that could stabilize her powers and keep her in tune with reality.

Suddenly up to her neck in this Metahuman nonsense, and unable to fly in the military because she was "compromised" (which honestly, with a power as unstable as hers, wasn't an unfair assessment), Lena left her home country to come to America where the NSO was headquartered, and worked with them to understand her new reality.

She's a bleeding heart, though, and can't leave well enough alone when she sees injustice. It started out as just meetings with other metahumans who helped her understand this new part of herself she didn't know about, but once she saw how much hate was thrown at them, she couldn't stand idle.

She's started taking a more active role in the voice for Metahuman awareness, and has even started going so far as to do low-key superhero work, helping people with her powers and using the moniker "Tracer", which was her callsign when she was a pilot. So far she's stuck to responses to fires and other accidents and shied away from actually fighting anyone, but with the way the city has been recently, that probably won't last.

I think her day job is as like a helicopter pilot for a news station or something.

LOOKING FOR:

  • Other people with time themed powers. I'm hoping to really tap into how WEIRD it is to be able to manipulate time even a little bit.

  • Someone technically inclined who invented Tracer's chronal accelerator so it wasn't just an NPC who made it. Nice meaty backstory CR hooks

  • Other vigilantes she can run into and either team up with or disapprove of the methods of

  • People who think heroism is dumb

  • People who are confused by their lives and would benefit from having a cheerful soul about who always seems like she knows what to do

  • Cute girls to crush on

  • Other military types to hang out with

  • EDIT: A cool metahuman mentor figure who has been teaching her how to better control her powers.

OKAY SO RIN IS A DEFINITE, but I have one character slot left and I've been kicking around ideas for how to fill it. These are the two characters I've mostly narrowed it down to, and though I probably won't be able to app either of them for a couple of months yet, I figured I'd throw out my preliminary ideas to get a better feel for how they'll fit into the cast. They both fall into antagonistic roles, but in very different ways.

PLAYER: Nix
CHARACTER: Mash Kyrielight
CANON: Fate/Grand Order

AU NAME: Dare I do it... Dare I use the forbidden romanization... Matthew Kyrielight
AU AGE: 16

BLURB:
Another one of the Douman Zaibatsu's weaponized Meta-human experiments, Matthew is a designer baby whose genes were spliced together to create an optimum specimen. Of course, Meta-human genetics are still something of a black box, and even less was understood at the time of her creation, so her genome is a bit of a mess! In fact, Matthew is the only one of her "siblings" to survive the manifestation of their Meta-human abilities, and even her lifespan is projected to be drastically shorter than the average human's. To compensate for this, the Zaibatsu has had her body heavily fitted with cybernetics, but even after being hooked up with the experimental Ortenaus system, it's estimated that she'll only survive for another two years or so.

Aside from being a living weapon, however, Matthew is just a timid girl insecure of her own humanity. I'm considering having her start still in the """care""" of the Zaibatsu, thereby putting her in something of a villainous role... Mash Kyriedark, you might say. Though she wouldn't be able to leave the facility she is currently confined to until the plot opens up an opportunity for her to take the field, she might just reach out to other people over the network, hiding her identity from both the NSO and the Zaibatsu with the pseudonym Mash.

LOOKING FOR: I am not looking to replicate her relationship with FGO's protagonist in this game.

That's basically my only stipulation, otherwise please hit me with whatever. Obviously, her in-game circumstances limit things, but I would love for her to have penpals she sneakily writes to over the network. She's lonely and will take an interest in pretty much anything if it'll give her some connection to another human being! Or, if anyone is thinking of playing a character aligned with the Douman Zaibatsu, I would love for them to be aware of her — maybe even for someone to be her handler?! And of course other experiments who will sympathize with her, even if she is currently still on the "wrong side"...

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: I have like a billion other characters I'd like to play here and narrowing it down was already painful enough, thank you. So far as castmates go, though, I would love to see Dr. Roman, Olga-Marie, or maybe even Ophelia?! I can definitely rework some of her given background accommodate the addition of Chaldea!

CHARACTER: Lucius (the Eternal)
CANON: Warhammer 40k

AU NAME: Lucius Nasicae, probably
AU AGE: 24 maybe??

BLURB: Lucius is a child of one of the many winding, interlinking branch families that makes up leadership of the privately-owned weapons R&D company Chemos. Despite the extreme and almost obsessive pressure placed on the members of these families to be "perfect," there's no caged bird story here; Lucius was born into great wealth and privilege, and he's loved every second of it. His personality reflects that: entitled, immature, impulsive, and thrill-seeking.

All that would probably be fine, if his favorite thrill to seek wasn't murder. Given a prototype energy blade by his father as a sweet 16 present, he quickly became bored of standard sword training and non-lethal duels. For years now, he has been stalking "Last" Ward at night (that's where all the scariest Meta-humans live, right?), looking for "worthy opponents" to cut down. He has no interest in killing the weak — only those that can put up a fight give him the adrenaline high he craves.

Lucius is also, secretly, a Meta-human himself! With his biokinetic power, as he hunts by night, he warps his appearance to that of a monstrous and scarred version of himself as a disguise. Under the ominous pseudonym of Soulthief, he claims that every scar on his body represents a life he has taken. (Or, perhaps, the scars are real, and the pretty face he wears by day is the true disguise? Who can say.)

LOOKING FOR:
  • NSO vigilantes! He certainly has had a run-in with at least one before, and considers the vigilantes of Last Ward to be the holy grail of his murder quest. Despite ostensibly wanting a challenge, he hates losing, and even being fought to a draw by one will make him almost obsessive in his desire for a rematch.
  • ... ... ... Friends? I realize this is vanishingly unlikely, given that he probably only hangs out with other Central Ward richies, but I would absolutely love people who will put up with his incredible dumbassery in a normal social setting. Maybe even people who think he's fun to be around, or who are equally as likely to put a fork in their microwave on a dare. (Of course, anyone who wants to be his impulse control is welcome, too.)
  • seriously this is him when he doesn't crave for MURDER
  • Past (or future) hook-ups and flings. If you're lucky, it took him two whole weeks to get bored and stop texting back!!

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: ........................ Saul? obviously it's never gonna happen, but I would adore literally any other character from the Emperor's Children

Hello friend, wanna have traveled through Oz?

[personal profile] thezekeinator 2020-01-27 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Might not exactly be 'training' but with Zeke's power using hers for Save Point, I think he'd probably be involved in a lot of her training? Just in case something went wacky or weird, it's easier to Quickload than it is to try to adjust or tamper with her power and the chronal accelerator while also dealing with her powers going wonky.

Really I think them being involved in all sorts of things with that combo is likely possibly to the extent of annoying even kindhearted sorts like these two. "We have lives, you know!"

PLAYER: Hedge
CHARACTER: Ryoko Hakuubi
CANON: Tenchi Muyo

AU NAME:
AU AGE: close to a hundred

BLURB: Ryoko's the product of a Mad Scientist of course, but was stolen by her competitor, who recognized her potential and gave her self-limiting implants. She spent most of her time as his virtual slave, doing violence for money and yet having No Fun At All...until a weird grandpa, following an ancient family tradition of "demon slaying", killed her master. She spent several decades after that Living Mas, mostly in ways that are highly illegal, a lifestyle she funded doing things that are also at least a little illegal.

The experience of falling in love and then being gently rejected for her rival (IE in this AU Tenchi chose Ayeka, or someone else if we got an Ayeka) has mellowed her only a little. She's come to the NSO because apparently that's where you can have some fun doing violence without being the kind of evil that would make her beloved disappointed in her.

LOOKING FOR:

-Castmates! We can fiddle together with the timeline so it all makes sense.

-People to keep her in line! She's a bit of a loose cannon and could use someone who's both powerful enough and compassionate enough to keep her from doing too much damage.

-PARTY TIME! Who wants to party?

GOOD IDEA

Did you have anything in particular thoughts in mind, like them having met prior to reaching New Gate City? It would make sense if Rin cut through someplace where the Zaibatsu has fewer eyes on her way, so maybe they coincidentally wound up taking the same way out of Oz, at the same time? (Though, I guess that would depend on how long Liir has actually been in the area; I've been thinking Rin has had at least a few months to establish herself in-setting.)

At some point I want to do some kind of action scene where they keep fucking up horribly and using save point to start a new subthread off of the comment where they used the power originally.

Also one of her canon friends is a cyberpunk cowboy so I don’t think Zeke’s ridiculous personality would even phase her. She just sees another person who wants to do good and is like “we just became friends!”

[personal profile] thezekeinator 2020-01-27 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
For Mash... I went ham on the whole BIOLOGICAL EXPERIMENTS OF DOOM thing for Akira and Mewtwo; possibly rather than directly, DZ contracted out to the Shady Corporation or was using it as a shell company for distance and plausible deniability. That could mean she knew about the projects going on and have a connection to whichever of those two I go with.

Whereas for Lucius I would volunteer Zeke as a vigilante! He would be an annoying as HELL opponent since his power would be an aspect of Lucius's own, somehow. I get the impression that would be a huge insult.

And then we get into social situations where he knows who Zeke is and thinks his disguise protects them, but Zeke knows who he is and is just pretending he doesn't...

I have no idea how this top-leveled instead of replying the first time I posted it!

[personal profile] duelust 2020-01-27 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, that works! Bioweapon cloning experiments ought to stick together, or something like that. Actually, depending on how the plot shakes out, reclaiming one of the DZ's wayward experiments could even be a sub-objective for her?

And LMAO YEAH, Lucius would consider that to be cheating. He hates cheaters!!! So that dynamic between the two of them would be entertaining, to say the least. Esp since Lucius gets... very passive-aggressive and snide with people he doesn't like, and also doesn't hide who those people are.

OK SO I have a couple ideas, pls help me decide [pray emoji] feedback also encouraged

PLAYER: Kiri
CHARACTER: Naminé
CANON: Kingdom Hearts

AU NAME: n/a
AU AGE: 16-17

BLURB:
A group of scientists underground on the hush hush, in a ploy for power, decided to utilize the growing techniques of cloning to try to selectively nurture and/or enhance specific powers in meta-humans by splicing and dicing dna together to create a better version. They didn't get very far before the Douman Zaibatsu crushed them like a bug though, but there is a handful of clones from the program that managed to escape. Most were flawed in some way, appearance wise (not that it usually mattered) or powers wise.

Naminé is one such clone, through merging the powers of two different kids, while retaining the appearance of one of them, albeit with a defect in her hair. The result ended up with her having an unusual ability to control memories, create new ones, edit old ones, erase them, etc. Because she had no moral grounds to stand upon with no memories of her own, the group used her abilities for nefarious purposes for a while before she had gotten to the point where enough was enough — she managed to run away right before the Douman Zaibatsu shut them down, so to speak, and a handful of others came with her, though they all got seperated shortly thereafter.

She's been on the street for a while, though recently taken in by the Neo Sapien Organization. She likes to draw and generally stays quiet, though she's very sweet and kind, she just harbors a lot of guilt and considers herself to be like an evil witch.

LOOKING FOR:
Ideas! Feedback! People that want to try to bust her out of her shell! She's brand new so she doesn't know anybody yet. Also like, if you wanna app a KH Nobody too and like the idea, we can work together!

PLAYER: Kiri
CHARACTER: Chiaki Nanami
CANON: Dangan Ronpa 2

AU NAME: n/a
AU AGE: 17 ish

BLURB:

After the tragic loss of his daughter in a school accident, a computer programmer in his grief created an incredibly life like and nearly unindentifiable AI version of his daughter, who bears the same name. While she looks incredibly lifelike, in all the work it took to create her and make her as identical and perfect as possible, imperfections arose. While she still managed to have the same basis of personality as her original, especially her enjoyment and skill at video games, there were some issues — for example, her program likes to lag, making her fall into fits of sleepiness and micro napping at times, and delays her reactions on occasion. When she's first warming up to getting to know someone, she can be very slow at reacting, though it usually gets faster the longer she knows them and their behavior is more predictable. Even then, sometimes she can still be a little delayed. This has never interfered with her gaming prowess, however.

As far as she's aware, she's human — that's how good and how hard he worked on making her, sparing no expense. He also didn't want her to be victimized or be discriminated against as an AI, so he never told her. Though, given she's a copy of someone else, he didn't want anyone who knew his daughter to find out, and either think she's a clone or otherwise just try to take her away, criticize his decision, stuff like that. So she's stayed inside for her whole short life. She's been content to this, though growing curiosity has led her to want to see what it's like...

She has a very successful following online for her video game tutorials and playthroughs, though due to her programming, she's never successfully completed any game that required significant amounts of understanding of how to relate to people, such as dating sims and other emotion heavy games. She has ALWAYS gotten bad ends, and this is a running joke among her fans. She uses an online persona called Usami, and uses a rabbit face as her picture.

I'm thinking perhaps the Douman Zaibatsu might have taken her dad away?? Thus forcing her out into the open. I'm not sure how she'd fall in with the Neo Sapien Organization, though. Perhaps that's what she was told to do if he was ever gone, because he himself was a meta-human involved in the organization? Pls assist.

LOOKING FOR:
Ideas! Feedback! People who already knew her being very confused!

Sorry for all the TL;DR! I have a lot of ideas for this.

PLAYER: Alice
CHARACTER: Wei Wuxian (courtesy name) | Wei Ying (given name)
CANON: Mo Dao Zu Shi

AU NAME: Same as above | Mo Xuanyu (alias)
AU AGE: Physically? In his early twenties. But he's actually in his thirties.

BLURB:

Basically, WWX is a former metahuman turned cybernetic ghost inhabiting the braindead body of Mo Xuanyu courtesy of minduploading technology. He's been dead for years and exists only as an imperfect mindcopy. The technology used to create him was (is?) still in development. Whether it was due to limitations in brain scanning, corrupted data only being partially recovered and restored, timing of the process, WWX's memories of his life are full of holes and he's "forgotten" some very important and crucial details about his life so he has what's functionally partial amnesia about his former life. After waking up in his new body, WWX was handed a file on Mo Xuanyu, advised to live his life, and turned loose. If there's a reason why he's been granted this opportunity, WWX doesn't know it. I don't know it either yet but that's okay.

As for why WWX is hiding his identity, it's because Wei Wuxian is the name of a particularly violent and infamous metahuman terrorist with Yakashbah. His biological parents died in what was rumored but not confirmed to be a hate crime against metahumans when he was nine after which he was adopted into the prestigious Jiang family (who also had metahuman lineage) where he acquired two new siblings, Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli. He was a problem child in the family and the catalyst for a lot of tension in the household. Despite this, he developed a tight bond with his adopted siblings, imprinting on his new older sister like a baby duckling on its mother.

When he was a teenager, he was known as a very talented young man, excelling at everything at school except following the rules and developed a reputation as a troublemaker. His metahuman powers first began to manifest during a fight with another student at school while defending his sister, after which he was kicked out. Due to the stigma on metahumans the fact that his adopted parents owned a highly successful corporation within the Douman Zaibutsu umbrella, a lot of money was thrown at this problem to make it go away fast and WWX was sent to a metahuman school run by the Neo Sapiens Organization to help him learn how to use and control his powers.

However, WWX clashed constantly with the headmaster, proposing controversial solutions and worrisome philosophies that fell increasingly in line with Yakashbah ideology. He also showed a natural inclination toward vigilantism, but given the NSO keeping their connection to those activities on the downlow, WWX never learned about them. He did, however, start following cases of hate crimes against metahumans and began to get involved in scuffles with those who expressed anti-metahuman views.

After one of these, the Jiang family home is burned to the ground with the family inside. WWX and his brother, Jiang Cheng, survived the attack. What's presumed to be his parents bodies are found in the fire but his sister, Yanli, isn't, leaving WWX to adopt the fierce, desperate hope that she survived though no sign of her has ever been found. It also increased WWX's hatred against anti-metahumans, who he believed to have been responsible for the deaths of his family even though this was never completely confirmed.

Yakashbah, who'd been keeping an eye on him for some time, saw a powerful metahuman with exploitable hatred that could be used for their cause. They quickly recruited him and put him to work participating in terrorist attacks. WWX rapidly became a feared and notorious name for the extreme ruthlessless and violence displayed during his assaults. At one point, WWX receives "proof" of Yanli's death from an anonymous source that's authentic enough to convince him that he's gone. WWX, who'd been fighting hard to create a world where she could live in peace without fear, completely lost it. It resulted in his worst attack yet, resulting in many deaths of innocent civilians in addition to anti-metahumans. I'm thinking this took place at a public convention or rally of some kind.

The end result is that NSO, seeing that they had a highly dangerous and unstable rogue on their hands, dispatched vigilantes of their own to take down WWX. They managed to kill him before he could take any more lives. In the years since, he's become known as an infamous Yakashbah terrorist and precautionary tale among the NSOs, especially in their schools.

As stated at the start of this tl;dr, WWX in game is a faulty mindcopy of this guy installed in a braindead cyborg body. He doesn't remember the full extent of everything he did in his life. I haven't quite worked out just where the holes in his memory are. I haven't decided whether the new body has any metahuman abilities but I do know that if he has them, they would be vastly nerfed compared to what he had when he was alive to reflect themes of power loss in his story in canon. Also, the only real cybernetics he has are the implanted hard drive that houses his mindcopy and a sophisticated brain user interface that allows him to pilot his body. He may have some physical issues and require some kind of medication and routine maintenance to keep everything functioning since I'm thinking that the tech used might still be experimental.

Also still working out the specific timeline of everything.
LOOKING FOR:
- Enemies! The vigilantes who killed him in life, characters with connections to people killed during his terrorist days, some classmate he mouthed off to once. WWX is feared and reviled by people who don't personally know him in canon and I'm hoping to reflect that here, too. I want him to be motivated to keep his head down and not make waves until he has to.
- Friends and allies! Though he's very misguided and kind of a impulsive dipshit to be honest, WWX is a friendly, charismatic guy once you get to know him. He has a strong sense of justice and desire to do real good in the world, despite how it looks. He won't hesitate to throw down or sacrifice himself to defend those he wants to protect. He'll also give you pep talks, TMI about his kinks and sex life, and share his porn with you, too. WWX is an idiot but he's fundamentally a good boy at heart, I swear.
- Mentors! Adults that might be able to help this shitshow and somehow get his life on track. He's a walking trashfire of bad ideas, fearless nonconformity, and generally has the attention span of a yappy dog after a squirrel but he's not completely a lost cause.
- Kids! WWX loves kids and is surprisingly good with them even if he might troll them. He's a surprisingly good mentor and leader in crisis situations himself if given a chance.
- Input on powers! I'm still trying to figure out exactly what his powers as a metahuman were/are because he's a powerful necromancer that can raise and manipulate corpses, animate puppets, empathically link with the dead and experience their memories as his own, summon undead, and a laundry list of other little things like creating mystical talismans. Given this is cyberpunk and he's canonically OP, I've been trying to think of ways to convert these things into the setting. I was considering starting with X-Men's Jean Grey's telekinesis/telepathy combo as a base and molding it into something that emulates some of what he has in canon. I'm completely open to suggestions for other powers instead if anyone has them, though.
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: I have a friend looking to app his brother, Jiang Cheng, this round but I would love it if there's any Jiang Yanli players out in the wild who might be interested in jumping on board with this AU. I'd also love some MDZS villains for him, too, Jin Guangyao and Xue Yang in particular. Or just MDZS/Untamed folks in general.

You have NO idea how tempting this is as an AU hook because I ALSO have a character who is the scion of a powerful family that made a bunch of really rash decisions resulting in amnesia.

Granted, he's an OC but I was almost immediately struck by the similarities.

hope someone figures out his double life based purely on which NSO representatives he inexplicably dislikes on any given day

ANYWAY, I am too lazy to make a separate comment for this, but I think there might be a workable angle with Tracer and Rin also? I'm not 100% sure, since Rin does admittedly keep to more underground contacts than the NSO most of the time, but she is a cynic wrt heroism and, while not precisely military herself, has spent a lot of time with former military people and paramilitary groups.

oops im back i was too tired to write this one up earlier

PLAYER: Kiri
CHARACTER: Minato Arisato
CANON: Persona 3

AU NAME: n/a
AU AGE: 17

BLURB:

SO the current idea is basically that Minato's parents died when he was about 6 years old in a violent car accident that only he survived, though just barely, which triggered his powers — the ability to know when someone's going to die down to the exact time and date and everything. After the death of his parents, he'd never really had one solid home, being tossed around from relative to relative with no one quite wanting to fully deal with taking care of him, especially with how weird of a kid he was, and how he was always "pretending" and saying morbid things. He learned to shut up and be quiet and hide this ability, not to mention conceal his feelings and Bottle That Shit Up from how traumatized he is from his parents death.

Recently, he was taken in by the Neo Sapien Organization to finish up schooling and have somewhere to actually like.... live and shit.

His main focus is on music, like playing a couple instruments and composing original tracks and covers and shit online like you see on soundcloud and youtube and stuff. his online handle is Orpheus. he's a bit more active as a person online than irl

LOOKING FOR: he probably won't have much existing CR, but i'm down for planning NEW cr!

Oh? Do tell!

OCs would be fun, too. The more the merrier, honestly!

Jun Gungjeon was my character in a Tabletop RPG campaign I played that was loosely based on the manhwa "Tower of God". In this game, rather than designing my own character, I had a friend of mine design the character and write his backstory on the understanding that when the game started, the character would have complete amnesia of his past, and that I wouldn't KNOW his past so as to stay perfectly in character. It was an absolute blast to discover my character's convoluted backstory and if you like tabletop games I cannot recommend this enough.

Anyways, Jun was the heir of a powerful noble family who's head had been secretly downloading his own mind into his chosen heir by way of an artifact known as the Walking Crown to thwart mortality for centuries as he grew in power. Jun and his twin sister Eunseo were fighting for the title of heir, not knowing that the winner would have their mind erased by an immortal lich. When Eunseo was declared heir, Jun got mad and killed her, only to then discover the truth. He tried to kill his father/ancestor, failed, stole the Walking Crown, and went into hiding. That was when he met a devil that offered to make it so no one could ever find the crown again. Jun accepted, only to have all his memories erased, so that no one, not even Jun himself, knew where it was hidden.

And that's where the game started, with Jun standing in the middle of a clearing in the woods with no idea who he was or how he got there.
