STATE OF THE CITY

Following January's riots, Arcadia has seen yet another increase in security. The number of Military Police has grown once again, and it seems that no matter where you turn within its streets, you're bound to find a uniform staring back at you. Despite the spectacle this makes, however, in many ways, the change is only tangible to those who already distrust the law; perhaps in fear of strangling commerce further, those officers "only" stop shoppers as often as they had before the last Yakashbah attack, for the most part acting as nothing more than a silent and unsettling vigil over Arcadia's population.

The Parish, on the other hand, hasn't been so lucky. The Military Police have cracked down here, and cracked down hard. While they're ostensibly only present to keep peace in the face of the rioting that threatened to break out the month before, these officers aren't taking any chances. Don't loiter too long in one place, and don't wear anything that might even be mistaken for the shape of an eye; it seems like they'll take any excuse they can to search someone's possessions or subject them to an interrogation. There have even been stories of police raids in search of those responsible for the attack on Arcadia - and in the Parish, word spreads quickly.

But at least those living and working in the NSO's headquarters can rest easy, maybe. Following a landmark security breach, short-range EMPs have been installed in various vents and ducts inside high-security areas of the building. Let's see some metal dust ninja get around those!

And what about those coffin cases in the sub-levels of the NSO? Well, don't worry about that, either; Dr. Annan has promised an explanation will be forthcoming, as soon as security has been improved all around.
