For the record: Magnus is, much like in canon, a giant man sorta-cloned by and from a mysterious egomaniac for galaxy-brained reasons no one truly understands. In the process of vaguing things up for an AU game, the project and the man in charge went off the grid about 50 years ago! Connections to other shady cloning and generic engineering projects? Thoughts about who was bankrolling the man in charge under the table?? Ideas for who ultimately put the operation out of business??? let's connect some dots y'all

Anyway, that might line up with about the time Ryoko was getting freed from being a corporate tykebomb/assassin...or from where she got finished with prison/basic life skills training at Jurai Biotech.

Anyway maybe Washuu was involved? Maybe she sent him a note to look after her idiot daughter?

hmmm not-the-Emperor having been a peer to Washuu is a thought, or possibly some of his data having come from whatever Jurai Biotech got out of its experiments on Ryoko? Mostly I know we have a lot of people with clone/experiment backgrounds and there was some talk of trying to coordinate those for plot reasons last AU workshop.

With that said, Magnus is as of now unaware of his precise background, so tbh finagling a way for him to find out through the Washuu Connection would be pretty funny.

Maybe Washuu (who's also long lived) was a student of not!Emperor? I find the idea of Magnus having to deal with her and Ryoko having to explain her embarrassing mom hilarious.

It's just a shame Magnus doesn't have his canon dad issues to contend with, but yeah, definitely! I like that idea.

Liir's going to be investigating Yakashbah and they'll be investigating him back. Eventually they'll learn who his mom was and we'll figure out where he goes from that (IE whether he tries to/is persuaded to make a bid for leadership of them due to fears that they'll be too fragmented and disorganized to defend themselves). Wanna help him? Investigate him (law/order types good for this)? Leak them that tidbit?

Also toying around with the idea of terrorists acting in his mom's name which he then has to suppress. Maybe one of Dorothy's other companions is involved?

Uh also: play not!Magic The Gathering with him.

Ryoko's needs are simple: fightin', druggin'/drinkin' and anything else that gives a thrill. She's also curious and gregarious so that means she's perfect for: butting in! Ryoko will actively get involved in your business and while she's trying to be Good, it's even bets on which side she'll end up.

So basically, if you have a loud, fightery type plot, she's your gal, and you don't need to worry about providing a plot hook because she's drawn to explosions like a monkey to an organic grocery dumpster.

OTOH I have an urge to play her having to do totally mundane things like going to the DMV (despite owning a VTOL she doesn't actually have a driver's license), doing laundry, etc. So if you wanna keep her from causing a Panic! At The Paperwork, LMK.

Lena/Biologist has got a couple things going on:

-She's investigating mutations in the local urban wildlife and finding that they're mutating at a rate that's getting closer to that of humans. This is actually Bad (after all our animal friends greatly outnumber us). One possible explanation: Area X (see her app, in journal) is expanding. I'm open to others or multiple ones tho.

-She's looking for the factor that's keeping corporate types from making more metas consistently/safely (the x-factor, you might say). If she finds it, it's even odds that she keeps her lid shut: she understands the ethical implications of the corps getting it (or claims to anyway) but also: science! Please have The Talk with her about how Science is not the answer to every question.

-Relatedly to the above, she'll assume that whoever came close to a breakthrough on the above was killed, so if you know a mysteriously dead scientist expect her to come poking around.

-She's also surveying metas because finding out more about everyone's mutations relates to all the above.

-Are you an outdoorsy type? Do you crave the taste of meat that wasn't grown in a vat? She's your gal for that, and will let down her spiky guard if you wanna, idk, learn about fish/ing.
