Welcome to the AU Workshop! We understand adapting a character for an AU game can be a difficult process, even if you have all the creativity in the world, so we've put this together to help! Just fill out the form and post it in a comment below, and sort of brain out which ideas stick!

Keep in mind this is not a reserve. Reserves will open on the 3rd, as always, and you don't need to use this if you're already sure of your ideas! This is just a fun creative exercise that we hope you enjoy and find helpful!

Yeeeees. Probably friendly or at least cordial rivals, considering they've obviously got similar outlooks on life in a lot of ways, but I'd be super down.

BLURB: In canon, Rosemary leaves home and manufactures a new identity to distance herself from her father who's been arrested for selling illegal weapons. In the AU, she's going to have come from the lunar colonies, where her father was arrested for... some sort of illegal scheme? She's from money, but spent nearly everything manufacturing a new identity and getting to Earth. Now she works as a clerk for the NSO doing some sort of paperwork job. She actually likes filling out forms. I think she's got some connection to meta-humans, either a family member or someone she's dated/dating. She's not meta herself however.

LOOKING FOR: Feedback, connections in the NSO, people who might reveal who she ~really is~

I think Jinx's chaotic nature would get under Tracer's skin, what with her more heroic nature, especially since they're both kind of light hearted people outside of the more violent parts of their lives. It might be funny to have them be rivals in their more vigilante style activities and then maybe a bit flirty in a kind of "does she like me or is she just like that?" way in their day to day lives, with neither of them making the connection until later.

you know what this sounds AMAZING. even without looking up the character (I like to be surprised like that), from what you've written I can imagine just how this sort of thing would have played out. them hitting it off rather quickly only to have it fizzle out when things get too intense on account of incompatibility on the part of their world views and also their deeper personality traits is absolutely an idea I can get behind!

Yang would big into physical intimacy - shoulder and back touches, leaning against, holding hands, stuff like that - with Fujino on account of not being able to, like, share meaningful glances across a table and so on. I could see that being a hard habit to break in the long run since she very much ties those sorts of feelings in with her concern over those closest to her, and though romantic love didn't work out, she's still likely to sort of... idk, hover in Fujino's periphery, ready to hop in and offer a hand (hah) whenever she needs it.

question: does attempting to flirt with slash bribe the clerk up the chances of certain papers getting seen to first? Yang's just asking for a friend.

in all seriousness, Yang's been doing chores for and then later odd jobs with the NSO for about 8 years and is overly pleasant and friendly toward everyone that keeps the gears greased around the place. whether that comes off as just her being generally well-meaning or as a very directed interested in Rosemary is entirely up to you, but she would likely make at least (1) solid attempt at getting a date out of it in all that time depending on how long she's been around herself.

note: her getting shot down is absolutely encouraged, as is them having a go of it but things not working out at all. but Yang's still going to want to hang out around the desk and banter on while waiting on payroll / a parts order / work authorization / whatever mundane thing needs its t's crossed and i's dotted.

I'm so glad! Uh, for a quick scan - she used to be a sheltered rich girl type, then her powers woke up and she basically got thrown out onto the streets, where she didn't really cope at all, with the oppression of Metas or with the Meta community. She's very much a prim and proper type even now, speaks pretty elegantly. Probably just does whatever odd jobs she can to get by - bodyguard work, maybe, stuff like that. She's got the vibe of someone who's holding herself back a lot, since she just wants to feel like she has a safe place to be.

Her power is that she can she can physically bend, twist, and break things by looking at them, so it's a very destructive power. She has decent control of it by now, but she still isn't comfortable with it. And of course, since she can't actually see, she has to sort of feel out the shape of things with her powers when she uses them - which means it's a bit imprecise when she does use it.

In terms of normal hobbies, she likes horror novels and ghost stories, plus assorted rich girl hobbies that have carried over from her childhood, like classical novels and such.

And she loves physical intimacy - she'd probably miss it a lot after they broke up. Definitely the type who used to rest with her head on her lap. So, very complex feelings if Yang accidentally slips back into their usual body language? But that's super interesting, so. I'll go ahead and tag you on the TDM, and we can toss around ideas as we go?

not to be too excited about that last bit, but I had this mental image of Fujino just relaxing against Yang like that while she tries to narrate a story, complete with silly voices and all, stroking her hair, until Fujino either falls asleep or something sappy and soft like that

and she would miss that sort of thing a lot, too, so mixed signals YES. Yang should really break some of her old habits but she's spent her teen years and up rapidly adjusting to being outside her comfort zone and so her natural response is to kind of just... burrow into other people's comfort zones.

also: her power sounds amazingly destructive. Yang's probably equal parts awed but also alarmed by that kind of potential. not that she doesn't have that in herself to an extent but just. literally, if looks could kill? WOW. good idea to stay on Fujino's good side, ahah...

No that's honestly very cute? They probably had a few moments like that - Fujino's flashes of pain and all make it a bit difficult for her to sleep, plus she's the kind of person who just has a difficult time relaxing, so Yang soothing her off to bed like that would be (would haveb een?) amazing.

And Fujino's the kind of person who tends to project and turn other people into her comfort zones, because she wants to have one that bad, so they really feed each other's bad habits, it's great. Some like, recognition of that but that base attraction still being there would be pretty fascinating stuff.

Also! Fujino'd honestly think Yang had the better power, if only because it's more like, practical? Fujino dislikes that her power really is so destructive, especially considering that she was disowned because of it. (She would have been thrown out if she had any power, really, but let her have an excuse for her self-loathing.) Some incident where Yang actually saw Fujino's power in action would be a fun thing for them to have in their past?

He's a long-time resident of the undercity so there's no way he hasn't heard of her. He's a beggar turned club singer and amateur musician of moderate success, so maybe they've bumped into eachother? Oooh, she could even be a fan! Up to you, just throwing out ideas.

AU NAME: Rose Quartz is the name she uses in the Last Ward, undecided on actual name
AU AGE: Somewhere from late 20s to 40s depending on background

BLURB: Rose is a meta human with control over her life force. It used to erupt in waves of force with her tantrums but has quieted into healing. She grew up in Central Ward with an extremely rich family. Her elder sisters ruled her life and kept her eternally the child well into her twenties. Her powers came about in puberty and were rather ruthlessly squashed down and only used for her family's benefit.

At some point in her mid twenties she ventured down to the other wards and met other meta humans! Oh my gosh! And did normal teenage things a decade late. Like kissing. And rebellion! Essentially she helps with the meta human factions. Her age is sort of dependent on whether she has a child. I'm going back and forth on that. If she did have Steven, I'd imagine her in her forties. Possibly having to leave Steven in the care of her meta human friends for some time bc family doesn't let her. I could even do the whole her family thinks she's dead thing. Unclear!

LOOKING FOR:Ideally I'd like friends for her, family maybe, lovers, I am here for the found family. Fellow rebels against the MAN.

CANON: Lore Olympus

AU NAME: Persephone (TBD)
AU AGE:19

BLURB:Similar background on the surface, meta human in Central Ward, kept in the metaphorical gilded cage and her mother used her wealth and status to bribe her way out of any mishaps Persephone had with her powers. Her powers extend to the growth of plants, large, small and without a care for the enviroment they are in. She canonically grows plants in the realm of death, she's got this.

Her first foray into life outside of Central Ward comes with an argument and another one of those mishaps with her powers. She gets her way and she goes to the NSO, outwardly to do charity work but mostly to learn how to deal with her powers and how to use them in the way that can help others. She's also doing university, it's a whole lifestyle change.

LOOKING FOR: As much as I'd love a Hades or Artemis, I'm realistic about my options. Anyone willing to help her navigate the strange life that is the world outside her mothers mansion is honestly tip top. Someone to room with.



OPTIONAL ENABLE ME:Okay so I'm torn between these two, mostly for their very different playstyles. Rose is set into the world where as Persephone is getting her first taste of it. Rose is much more involved in the Meta Human nonsense. Rose tends toward the dramatic. She also has the higher likelihood of getting castmates, which is a bonus. However, I've never played a character who is quite so likely to get her hands in all the pies so it'd be a change.

That's definitely one good reason to love AUs! Being able to play out similar-but-different character development and new dynamics is the fun stuff.
