JANUARY AU WORKSHOP

JANUARY AU WORKSHOP

Welcome to the AU Workshop! We understand adapting a character for an AU game can be a difficult process, even if you have all the creativity in the world, so we've put this together to help! Just fill out the form and post it in a comment below, and sort of brain out which ideas stick!

Keep in mind this is not a reserve. Reserves will open on the 3rd, as always, and you don't need to use this if you're already sure of your ideas! This is just a fun creative exercise that we hope you enjoy and find helpful!

Be sure to check out our Premise, FAQ, Locations, and NPC posts for worldbuilding info to help you get started!

Here's the form!

Yang's own history involves her also having a supportive parent at the time of her accident-slash-Meta-human awakening, but was forced out of her community by those around them. so she's basically all about collecting kids who were in the same situation and giving them some hope. she also has the one missing mother (who left of her own volition, but still, that stings) so she can sympathize with that plight and will gladly lend her aid in a search for answers, even if that just means keeping an ear out while on the streets.

for overlapping interests, she's a tinkerer and gearhead, specializing in the mechanical side of things with limited programming skill. could be they've caught each other studying up on the subjects? or even just witnessing Yang banging away at her latest contraption. (also Yang's fashion sense is what one could call interesting so that's another thing they could bond over.)

Common interests are the absolute fastest way to for anyone to actually get along with Mirys.

Mirys has also only been around the NSO for one year compared to Yang's eight, but maybe once someone notices that it looks like she might actually be interested in the stuff Yang's doing, she gets herself shoved in Yang's general direction in the hope that she might start opening up a bit.

showing newbies around town is just part of what she can do to help transition them into a life under the NSO's care. Yang's respectful of boundaries too, but she just so happens to know a few good quiet places to hang out too, if that's what Mirys needs! she can always work her social magic in after establishing that baseline.

I'm currently thinking that Mirys had already been living in the Middle Ward before things ended up happening with her parents disappearing and all that, since being there already would mean it wasn't a long commute for her father going to/from work, but Mirys herself actually going out anywhere was somewhat rare because she would want/need to do something to hide the hair and ears and doing that whenever she wanted to go out was really just Annoying.

So for that first year of being at the NSO, Mirys would have been familiar with some places already but not too much else, and definitely could have used a guide if you want to go with Yang having filled that role. It'd give her a head start toward being someone that Mirys is actually willing to trust, especially if there'd been an effort to not go making her uncomfortable.

conversely, Yang's tried to branch out from the Middle Ward regularly but still finds the surroundings the most comfortable and familiar. she knows a one size fits all approach won't work for everyone but she's not immune to missteps along the way in trying to make Mirys feel more at home, and less out of place.

saying things like "people who are staring at the ears are just jealous (nottalking)"
